-Tyler is the better guitar player out of the two of us. I usually sing while he plays. However, I want to work on my guitar playing skills again. I always say this... let's see if it happens. I got a lot of work to do.

-I am thinking about going a caramel blond like Lauren Conrad. It seems like everyone dyes their hair dark these days. It would be fun to have a change. {I actually like the Ombre look... Tyler doesn't. If you are not looking cute for your husband, then who? So Tyler wins, no ombre}.

-Doesn't The Vow look like such a cute movie?

-Confession... Tyler and I stayed up watching some Justin Beiber movie on Netflix. It was a joke at first, then it became interesting. We are such nerds.

-I haven't read a book since I met Tyler. It's no joke. I read the first Hunger Games book a while ago and loved it. Tyler gave me the other two books for my birthday. They are such good books!

-It seems like everyone we know if having a baby. Seriously. Our ward is packed with the cutest kids you ever did see. Baby hungry? Sometimes.

-Tyler and I are thinking about running a half marathon with his family. I may need to run another 5K before then... but that would be something great to work towards. I have been wanting to do it for a long time.

-I bought a nail polish the other day called Vintage Gray. I am excited to try it out.

-I am anxiously waiting the arrival of my new black and hot pink running shoes that Tyler got me for my birthday. It will make running even better!

-I am excited for this weekend. We have some fun things planned. I love weekends!!!

Product Review: Maybelline Baby Lips

Tyler and I went to a movie {of course} a month or so ago. Prior to the movie there was an advertisement for Maybelline's new product, Baby Lips.

My husband is marketing major and in his senior year, so lately after viewing an advertisement of some sort, he will critique it for good or bad., and I usually agree with him.

After watching the baby lips commercial he leaned in and expressed how horrible the commercial was. I replied with, "yeah? I actually want to try it". ;)

I guess it worked on me.

A few weeks later we were at another movie {yes, we go a lot... thank you cheapy theater} and that same commercial came on. "Here we go again", said Tyler.

I then heard the group of girls in front of us say they were all going to the store afterwards to purchase baby lips.

So there you have it.

As you have probably gathered, I did end up trying this. I bought the pink punch kind and actually love it {is this teeny bopperish?}.
It is a fun sassy pink shade, smells delicious, and actually does moisturize.

The other flavors sound equally as delicious. There is a red cherry color, a darker wine color, and the rest are clear.

Kind of fun if you want to give it a try.

It is fun trying something new.

-Woke up to a "happy birthday" and kiss on the cheek from my Mr.

-Yummy breakfast made by Tyler.

-My parents came up and took us to lunch. They are so wonderful

-Tyler's parents came up and went with us to dinner.

-Cake {which was delicious}, ice cream, and kind presents with Tyler's family.

-Fun birthday messages all day long!

Valentine's Craft

Tyler planned a snowmobile trip with one of his friends, so I got to spend the day with two of my best friends, Tyanna and Melissa. {LOVE you girls!}

However, due to a storm {the weather has been so weird here!}, Tyler didn't end up going... but he was a good sport about having the ladies over. :)

I don't have any fun decor for Valentine's Day, so we decided to make a little v-day craft { found on pinterest, of course}.

I found an old square frame, and spray painted it off white.

Then I covered the back board of the frame with burlap {that is a huge crafting trend right now}.

Then I made different sized rose buds out of red felt and hot glued them to the burlap.

It was super simple! You should try it!

Product Review: Revlon Photo Ready Foundation

I usually buy a different foundation every time I run out. Meaning, I wasn't finding one that I liked. AND, I wasn't about to pay $50 for foundation... simply because we like to eat for our survival.

Someone suggested Revlon's Photo Ready foundation... tried it, loved it.

There is a great color selection, it goes on so pretty and evenly, it comes out of a little pump {so neat and clean}, and it costs about $10.

I am a fan.

A Weekend of Projects

Our weekend consisted of working towards another new years resolution of being more organized. I know, I am super cliche.

It was nice to finally have Christmas put away. However, seeing how a good majority of it consisted of a our decor {thanks to both of our cute mothers} things are now looking a little empty around here.

We'll have to fix that.

Things back in their original place and normal life is back into action.

Another thing I worked on was my closet project. It is coming... slowly but surely. One of the main reasons I fell in love with this place was due to the closet. I need to enjoy it while we have it.

It feels good to have things organized. Oh, and I even enjoyed doing the laundry this past weekend. :) I usually really disklike it but it was nice getting our clothes organized {and a ton of things ready to take to the DI}. I hope I can hold onto this attitude. Maybe that is wishful thinking. ;)

That was it for this weekend... nothing too exciting. It felt good to get some things done though.

We are looking forward to another week!

Work it.... again!

The hubs and I started our P90X workout this morning. We chose mornings because after work was never convenient {and never happening}. I'm not so much a morning person, so I told Tyler to drag me out of bed if I wasn't getting up. It didn't get to that point today, but I'm sure one day it will.

For those of you who don't know, P90X is an extreme home fitness (insert tough guy voice) video. Yep, today was push-ups. I really dislike push ups. Reminds me of my high school drill team days when I would get in trouble for talking... which happened more times then I care to share.

All in all, it kicked my booty. Tyler says it gets better. I hope so.

Like the rest of you new year resolutionists, we are working on eating healthy {pretend you didn't read that ditty about the popcorn}. We planned our meals for the week and bought a huge thing {for super cheap} of grapefruits... you know, for the midnight munchies or something {that happens to us. Ice cream always sounds amazing around 11:15pm... now it's grape fruit... might get old}.

Date Night

Last night was date night. Yep, a plain old Tuesday, but it wasn't so plain to us.

I love date night with Tyler. I love getting glamed up for him. I do my makeup a little more special, I pick out the cutest outfit, and use my special perfume.

Tyler waits patiently for me. When I come out he makes me feel like a million bucks.

Tyler holds my hand as we walk to the car and opens my door. We then head to Taco Tuesday... haha and we love it. I always make him order first because I can't understand their accents sometimes. He thinks I'm funny.

We then head to the theater to see what is playing... we splurge and go to the "real theater" {meaning, not the cheapy one... which we love}. We have two hours until our movie, we head home.

I pull up hulu and The Bachelor reels in my attention. It is okay because Tyler is occupied by his fantasy basketball jazz. We laugh hysterically at The Bachelor, what a weird show. We kind of think that the bachelor looks like the Geico Cave Man...is that mean?

We take off to our movie. After finding our seats we vow to not get popcorn because we are going to be healthy {fast forward 10 or so minutes} we are at the snack bar getting popcorn. I knew we shouldn't have come early, the advertising for popcorn always gets us.

We watch our movie {Sherlock Holmes 2}. I am super tired. Tyler keeps trying to sneak a kiss to wake me up, I laugh, I'm awake.

Movie ends. We go home. Tyler walks me to our door like we are 16 years old on a date. It was a wonderful date.

All day at work today I kept thinking about what a fun date that was. We went to taco Tuesday for crying out loud! :) But it was a blast.

I know that you think I'm just a silly newlywed, but I love being married to Tyler, so much. I love hanging out with my best friend 24/7.

Can't wait until our next date night.

Product Review: Heat Protecting Spray

Like I already mentioned, I am a big fan of heat protecting spray. I can really notice a difference in what it does to my hair.

The above heat tamer was one of the things I got for Chirstmas from Tyler's Mom and I love it!

It is called Beyond the Zone: Turn Up the Heat and you can get it at Sally Beauty Supply.

It protects, shines, and smells delicious. I feel like it helps curl or straighten my hair a lot better than anything else.

I like to share my finds, and if you are like me, you get overwhelmed with how much is out there {believe me, I have tried a ton... like too much}.

So here ya go! It is nice to read a little product review here and there. :)

Cabin Getaway and New Years Eve!

This past week we decided to take advantage of our time off from work and school, so we had ourselves a little cabin getaway.

I love his family's cozy cabin {we especially love the carpet}. :) We always have so much fun!

Enjoying Stephens delicious, mint hot chocolate {it is our favorite!}

We went out and tested Tyler's new {used} snowmobile. Tyler was on cloud nine! I loved it!

Lucky for us, it wasn't very cold but there was plenty of snow.

It was so much fun! Life is always an adventure with that Mr. of mine!

New Years Eve

After our little getaway, we drove back to Tyler's parent's home and had a New Years Eve party.

They have a fun tradition of making egg rolls {delish}. Here is goofy Tyler helping out with the yummy spring rolls. :)

The night was packed with food and games. We love being so close to our families!

Tyler's Mom passed out these cute champagne glasses filled with sparkling grape juice to ring in the new year.

What a wonderful year this has been filled with so many fun memories! We are excited for 2012!

My Ramblings

- This Christmas break has been nice... but I am ready for real life again. I am ready to take down the Christmas decor and turn off the Christmas music. As much as I love Christmas, I am always ready to start over with a new year. It is a good feeling.

- You marry the person that you feel that is most like you and the best for you. After you get married you realize they are more perfect for you than you could have imagined. That's how you know even more that Heavenly Father has a hand in things.

- Tyler traded his motorcycle for a nice snowmobile. Less dangerous we feel. We are off to the cabin in a few hours to test it out. So excited for another adventure with my Mr.

- Does anyone go through a gallon of milk faster than us? We're talking 4 days max. We love milk.

- I want to get back into cooking more and crafting more... I am always so tired after work. I always think about Moms that work, how do they do it?

-I hate doing laundry. I admit it, seriously hate it.The folding part is the worst. I must get over this.

- Tyler is taking 18 credits again this semester. All marketing classes. He is excited.

- We are thinking about doing P90X to kick our booties back into shape. Christmas treats need to come off.

-All of this coldness makes us crave the warm beach. We are planning on taking off to California for spring break. Tyler has never been to California! Crazy, huh?

-Have you seen the movie Warrior? It is seriously one of our FAVORITES. Go and rent it.

- I can't believe 2011 will soon be over. I have loved this year. It is crazy how fast time goes by.

Carrie Underwood Make-Up Tutorial by Kandee

I'll be honest, I have been doing my makeup the same way since I was in high school. I use a champagne shimmer color as the base and fill in the crevice with some shade of brown.

I have decided to branch out and figure out new ways of doing my makeup {variety is good}. I saw this tutorial by makeup artist Kandee Johnson and really liked it. I did it for Christmas Eve and got a few compliments. :)

Our First Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas!

Thank you to our cute families for making it so special! It was great being with all of you!

It was also wonderful spending our first Christmas together as a married couple.

We had so much fun giving gifts to each other and seeing each other light up as we opened them.

Mom Sense

I have been missing my cute family so much! I know they don't live very far away, but it is hard for us to drive down and see them as much as we would like.

The other day my heart was aching so much for my mom and dad! Later that day my mom called and said they were on their way to our cute, little city to drop off our Christmas present.

Goodness me, how does she do it? My entire life she has had this amazing "mom sense". It was so good to see them. It was only a short time but it was such a blessing. I couldn't help but cry! I just love them so much!

I love you, Mom and Dad... and family! I can't wait until Christmas to see you all!

This weekend was a fun one consisting of a work party, ward party, seeing the play White Christmas with Tyler's family, and tons of Christmas shopping {almost done}. We are now getting ready to go to the Shuman Christmas party. It has been an eventful week!

Too Emotionally Involved

Tyler and I found a t.v. show on Netflix called Flashpoint and we LOVE it. It is totally our style, super intense and the good guys win in the end. I totally suggest it.

The other day we were watching an episode where this cute teenage gal was getting picked on by some crazy girl gang. Also, she had a really hard home life.

Here was our convo:

Him: She just needs someone to take care of her and give her a hug.
Me: Yeah! We would adopt her. She would love us, we are so fun!
10 or so minutes later
Me (again): This is only a show, this is only a show. Heck, Tyler...I just want to give her a hug!
Him: I know, she is a good girl. She just needs a good family!

We stopped and looked at eachother and just laughed our heads off! We get too emotionally involved with our new favorite show! I love it though, and goodness me, I sure love that man of mine.

Beauty Talk: Hair Facts

The other day I went and got my hair done. Yet again, I buzzed the gal with questions on hair care. Here are just a couple "didn't knows" that I'm going to share with you.

#1 When blow drying your hair use your hand to brush through your hair for the first 50% of your blow drying time. For the other 50%, you may use a round brush to finish the job. When your hair is wet it creates elasticity in your strands, using a harsh brush may cause your hair to snap {thus giving you rotten split ends}. Remember the 50/50 rule.

#2 Rather than hard back combing {or using a bump it... haha} blow dry your hair from multiple angles for volume. Blow dry with your head upside down, blow dry against your part... etc. All of these things will give you some extra volume.

Like I said before, these gals have a lot of knowledge on hair care. Rather than sitting in awkward silence while getting your hair done. Or listening to a strangers gossip, ask questions to help you know the secret to good hair.

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas

Even more studying for Tyler. I'll tell you what, we cannot wait until finals week is over!

I thought that I was home free from the stress of finals week seeing how I have graduated. I was wrong. I wish I could do more to help Tyler!

Foot Insert Mouth

Have you ever said something to someone and wished you could take it back? I am not talking about moments where you have felt angry resulting in being catty and felt bad about it afterwards. Nope, this "take back" was saying something out of pure oblivion, thinking about it later, and then realizing how BADLY it could have been taken {and cringing afterwards}.

All night you stay up tossing and turning hoping that the person didn't take it the way you didn't mean it {are you following?} and if they did, wishing that they would forgive you because you really like them. Yep.... that was me. Mrs. Foot--Insert--Mouth.

Two things are to be learned from my experience #1 I should think before I speak and #2 Don't be offended... because maybe they didn't mean it they way you took it. Life is a lot happier if you just pretend everyone is not out to get you {for the super most part they aren't, I promise}. Oh, and we could possibly add a #3 don't read into it so much because most likely they thought nothing and you are just wasting your time fretting. Huge problem of mine.

Ah! I feel horrible. This is not one of the posts where I hope the person will read it and everything will be okay {they don't even know I have a blog} it is just a human story that I share. Sometimes it is nice to remember that we are all human. Helps us to forgive the next time we are the one feeling attacked.

Work It!

My Mr. and I continue to build our habit for a healthy/active lifestyle. We tied for November with our workout challenge.

It actually really isn't a "competition" anymore. We just realize we are happier when we workout {more me than him, he is always happy}, and you feel so much better. Of course...I am not perfect, I am always recommitting myself. However, I find that when I do skip days working out it KILLS me the next day. It is so much easier to just be consistent {but life happens}.

Things that I've learned:

#1 As simple as it sounds, find something that you like to do to get you active. Tyler is playing basketball as write this post, perfect example. I'm thinking about enrolling in some fun dance classes in January. Do something you love and stay with it.

#2 Add variety to your workout. For awhile I was jogging 2 miles a day and calling it good. I did the same thing day after day and almost bored myself to a strike. I decided to branch out and focus more on what I wanted to workout. I love having toned arms so I added an arm workout. I also decided to work on my upper legs by spending some time on the bicycle. I have been building new challenges for myself and it makes working out a lot more interesting.

#3 Challenge yourself for results. I was talking to Tyler and his Dad about getting results from working out. They informed me that my 2 mile jogs probably wouldn't help me reach my goal. I am now sprinting 1/4 mile, jogging 1/10 mile... and repeating. Sure kicks my booty but don't be afraid to challenge yourself!

Start out low and then work up to the hard stuff. Even if you are jogging 1/2 of a mile that is a good start! Just keep going!

If you are like me and striving to be in better shape {meaning HEALTHY} I hope this helps. I am not an expert at all. I am just learning as I go.

Here is a nice little ab workout I was referred to online. I was so sore after the first day of doing this. It's nothing glamours, just a gal that explains really well.

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

Work party

Tyler and I got invited to one of the professor's "end of the semester" party. Holy moly... there was a room that had more animals than our little community zoo {they were stuffed though. Not really my thing}.

If you stand in the middle of this room you feel like you are going to be attacked from every angle {believe me, I tried it}.

It was an interesting evening.

Christmas Candy Making

My wonderful mother in-law invited Jessica and me over to make Christmas candy. So fun!

We made turtles, orange truffles, caramels, chocolate covered pretzels, and Andy's mints.

Tyler's cousin preparing the turtles. That is the easiest way to make them. Pretzel, rolo, heat in the oven for 10 minutes, and top it off with a pecan.

Sister's Night Out

My cute Mom and sisters try to get together and go out when one of us has a birthday. We were celebrating two birthdays this past weekend {one from August and one from October, we were running a tad behind}.

We had lunch at delicious Kneaders. So good!

Relaxing Weekend

What a wonderful LONG weekend! It consisted of decorating for Christmas, a USU football game {we won!}, Christmas shopping, homemade chocolate chip cookies, and lots of relaxing! Simply wonderful!

Our Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I missed my family seeing how it was my first Thanksgiving away from them {besides the mission}, but we had such a great time with Tyler's family.

Warning... may be boring. Kind of a journal entry post. No pictures {forgot my camera}, just a recap.

Tyler and I left bright and early yesterday morning to drive to his parent's home. The guys all went golfing and the gals made the Thanksgiving goods.

Tyler's Mom is a wonderful cook. It was fun learning some of her secrets and talking with her and cute Jessica as we prepared food.

The dinner was at Tyler's Aunt's house. Everything was delicious! I sure can't wait to workout though! :)

Tyler and I slept over at his parent's home and played card games that evening. We went to bed kind of early so that I could be awake for my first Black Friday experience. Can you believe I have never done that?

We had a blast with Tyler's parents. We got a few fun things and had delicious scones with honey butter at a local diner. Yum! It was a fun morning. I am glad that we got to spend so much time with Tyler's parents.

Tyler and I couldn't wait to decorate our apartment for Christmas. Goodness me, I am a huge fan of Christmas. It has been so fun getting our apartment all decorated!

So there I was, driving around, frantically searching for a parking spot.

The lot was full, like really full. There were a few of us drivers swirling around hoping someone would back out. I noticed one car in particular, she was ranting and raving, throwing her arms in the air due to the lack of spots. She looked ridiculous. I subtly giggled and continued my search.

After a bit I turned a sharp corner and was faced with little Miss Angry herself. I shocked her I guess, so she did what any other classy lady would do... honked a few times, yelled, and then showed me her finger.

Wow... that doesn't happen very much in this little city. In fact, it is the opposite. When you are at a four way stop, it takes a LONG time. Everyone is insisting the other to go first.

I was shocked and upset. How rude.

When I saw Tyler later that day I told him what had happened. "Really? I'm sorry" he responded, "What did her car look like?" I liked where this was going. Sure, we would let the air out of her tires or something (only kidding or course). He continued with, "because I am going to leave a note that says you should be nice".

I looked at him, paused, and looked forward. Sure... we'll leave her a note (joking of course). She could change.

Though a funny example, this perfectly demonstrates Tyler's character. He really does see the good in everyone and never reacts angrily.

I got a lot of growing to do. Or there might be future tire issues. :)

Household Favorites: Scentsy Plug in

I do not do many reviews on household products{this would be the first}. However, today I was thinking how much I love my scentsy plug in (no, I do not sell this product) and decided to do a little post on it.

We got a couple of these as gifts for our wedding {thank you!} and goodness me, I love having our little place smell so purdy. Love it! Especially for the hoilday season.

I also found that you can buy the little scents for $2 at Walmart and $7 at Taipan {I think they are around $12 through scentsy}. It doesn't last as long as the scentsy brand. If you are like me you like a little variety anyways.

So there you go!

A {Mr.} a {Mrs.} and a {Goldfish}

Last Saturday Tyler and I decided that it was time to get our fish.

So we hopped in our car {in our sweats nonetheless, you know you're a newlywed when...} and we bought a 28 cent goldfish. Yep, and we named him Enrique Shuman {Ricky for short}.

Next, we googled ways on how to make him live longer... because we have become emotionally attached. {okay, just me}. :)

After staring at our fishbowl for a while we decided that dogs are so much more fun. We also decided that our next living arrangement will allow dogs. But for the time being we love our little Enrique.

Tyler beat me in our workout challenge due to my "rough start".

However, we have started over for November. Me: 3 for 3 and Hottie Tyla Tyla: 1 for 3.

It is fun doing this together. I highly suggest it.

You know, I used to dread working out after work {DREAD I tell you!}

I am convinced the more you do it the more you love it... and oddly enough, crave it.

It is all mental my friends.

Another thing I have learned is that it is okay to start out low and work up to the challenging stuff.

I'm still loving THIS workout. You should give it a try. You'll feel great!

It's the Little Things

When Tyler and I were dating I would get so excited for when we would have "run ins" on campus.

Just seeing him a minute or two in between class gave me crazy butterflies.

I have since graduated so I don't get to run into him on campus.

However, I do work on campus and today while I was giving someone a tour I spotted my Mr. through a library window studying his heart out.

I got those same butterflies all over again {times 10 or so}.

Beauty Talk: Pretty Soft Skin

Coldness is coming {or is here} and dry skin will soon follow.

Goodness, I really {really} dislike dry skin.

So... here are some tips for you to keep your skin soft and beautiful.

#1 Don't take burning hot showers. Though tempting in the cold cold mornings, it will dry you right up.

#2 Immediately after showering, moisturize like crazy! Your pores will be open and take in the lotion the best. I love using Jergens or some other soft smelling lotion and keeping it right in the shower.

#3 Don't place those space heaters too close! I am so guilty of this. Sometimes I am freezing at work... thus my skin suffers.

Our Halloween

My Mr. and I got to go to his family's cabin with his parents. I wanted to add a trip to the cabin to our fall list, but I didn't think it would happen. I was so happy when his parents invited us to go with them. We had so much fun!

It was chilly but so lovely with the autumn time colors.

-Tyler applied for graduation (yay!) .

-It is getting chilly in our cute little city. We are dreading the winter.

-I got to visit the rest home last night with some gals in my ward. I loved it! There is such a special feeling there.

-I had to scrape my windshield off with a card yesterday…. Brrrrrr.

-Tyler’s parents invited us to go to the cabin with them this weekend. We are excited.

-We got our Halloween costumes last night. It’s going to be so much fun.

-I am loving the country chic scent from Bath and Body. Delish!

-Tyler and I look at the fish every time we go to Wal-Mart. Getting a dog is out of the question for us right now… so we are going to get a fish and we are excited. J

-I have been bad about doing my work out this week.

-Tyler has a new job working with what he has been studying in school. I am proud of him.

-There are leaves everywhere and I love it.

Fall Break Weekend

Our weekend started on Friday. We got to attend the beautiful sealing for Jessica and John in the Logan temple. The day was perfect! And Jessica was one of the most stunning brides I have ever seen! What a beautiful couple John and Jessica make. We are so happy for them!

Their reception was decorated for fall. I love fall weddings! Tyler's Mom did such an amazing job! I wish I would have taken more pictures.

They had warm cinnamon rolls, hot wassail, and different types of breads for the dessert. It was so delish.

I loved how everything was themed around autumn time.

I thought this was beautiful! She used different class jars that held the candles. So pretty!
{ I loved that I got to see my hottie husband in a tux once again}.
It was such a wonderful day! We sure love Jessica and John and are glad there is another newlywed couple in the family! The following day the hubs and I got to check some things off of our fall list.

Tyler bought us game day shirts and we went to an Aggie game with his parents. Once again, we love being around our family so much.

I love football games. The cheering crowd, nachos, the autumn air, and Tyler explaining the game to me. We had fun {although our poor aggies choked at the end... once again}. We found out that my sister Emily and her darling family was in town, so we asked them to come the pumpkin walk with us {yet another thing off of our fall list}. We sure love these little nephews of ours. Thanks for hanging about with us, guys! We loved it! It was great and eventful weekend!

Beauty Talk: Hair Care

I haven't posted a "beauty talk" ditty for a while, and I think it's time.

First, some "did you knows".

Did you know that when washing your hair you only need to put shampoo on your roots? The leftover shampoo that runs from your roots is enough for the rest of your hair. Don't strip the natural oils from your ends.

Did you know that you only need to put conditioner on the ends of your hair? Your roots have enough moisture from natural oils. The ends need a little help, though.

Yep, that is what I learned from the gal that does my hair. I have learned to ask tons of questions, they know all the secrets for beautiful, healthy hair.

NOW... hair products.

I have been using the same things for a while, maybe I should branch out with something new.

Here's what I do...

#1 After washing my hair I mist it entirely with tresemme heat tamer spray.

#2 Then I spray the roots with tresemme root boosting spray {more volume, lovely}.

#3 After blow drying my hair {yes, blow drying is murder on your mane, but I have some natural curl... that is the only way to tame it}. I mist it again with heat tamer.

#4 After curling or straightening my hair I secure it with tresemme {I promised this isn't some promosh for tresemme... it is just one of my favorites} freeze hold hair spray. It works nicely.

#5 Lastly, I sleek it with with Fructis sleek and shine.

Seems like a ton of product, huh? It actually feels so natural {not oily}, yet secure... and smells delish.

Mom's Pumpkin Cookies

I called my Momochka yesterday to get her delicious pumpkin cookie recipe. It is by far my favorite. Here you go!

Ingredients:
½ c butter
1 ½ c sugar
1 egg
2 ½ c flour
1 t baking soda
1 t baking powder
1 t nutmeg
1 t cinnamon
¼ t salt
1 cup pumpkin
1 t vanilla
1 pkg. chocolate chips

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter, sugar, and eggs in mixer then add pumpkin. Finally, add dry ingredients, vanilla , and chocolate chips. Bake in the oven for 12 minutes.

So good!

Fall Decor

Kung Pao Chicken

I made this for din din tonight. It is so simple and so good. You should try it!

I sure hope you don't mind all of my random recipes here and there. I am just recording all of my favorites so that I can make a cookbook for myself.

Ingredients:
1lb boneless-skinless chicken breasts (cut into 1” pieces)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 teaspoons sesame oil
3 tablespoons green onions (chopped)
3 garlic cloves (minced)
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
½ teaspoon powdered ginger
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons sugar
1/3 cup dry roasted peanuts

Step 1: combine chicken and cornstarch in a small bowl and toss to coat. Heat sesame oil in wok over medium heat, add chicken and stir fry 5-7 minutes or until no longer pink inside. Remove chicken from wok.
Step 2: Add green onions, garlic, red pepper flakes and powdered ginger to the wok and stir fry for 15 seconds.
Step 3: Combine vinegar, soy sauce and sugar in a small bowl. Mix well and add the sauce to the wok.

Step 4: Return chicken to the wok and coat with sauce. Stir in roasted peanuts. Heat thoroughly. Top with additional green onions if desired and serve over white rice.

We got to attend my nephew's baptism. He is such a cute kid! He is the second Palmer grandchild to be baptized. They are all growing up!

While we were at the baptism, my little niece (who has a little crushy crush on my Mr.) told Tyler that she wanted to tell him a secret. He leaned in and she said, "I think you are handsome". It was so cute. It is so fun being an Aunt and Uncle. We simply love it.

My nephew that was baptized. He is such a stud.

After the baptism we spent the rest of the evening at Tyler's parent's home (they live near my sister). We watched the USU football game with them and had the best pizza I have ever tasted {delish}.

I love the Shuman home. It is funny how quickly you feel close to your in- laws after you get married. Tyler feels the same way about my family.

We think it is such a blessing that we get to see so much of BOTH of our families. Tyler will be done with school in the Spring and we don't know where life will take us after that, so we love this time we have to be so close.

Sunday

Another wonderful day at church. Are all married wards amazing, or did we just luck out? We love our ward.

After a meeting I had, I came home to Tyler preparing dinner. BBQ chicken (we actually got the BBQ sauce when we were on our honeymoon in Florida) on the grill. It was delicious.

Oh, and we got to check off something from our Fall list.

#6 "Go on a motorcycle ride with Tyler to see the fall leaves".

Tyler bought a helmet for me so that I could go on rides with him.

We decided to go to the canyon today. It was so much fun!

I'm a gal who loves light pink, peonies, and vintage inspired dresses. This pictures doesn't describe me very well, but it was fun to pose for a day. :)

I sure love autumn time. It doesn't last very long around here.

We were so chilled after our ride so we went home to our cute apartment, cranked up the heat, and snuggled as we watched a movie.

It was another grand weekend.

Chocolate- Coconut Bars

Tyler and I do not like to go empty handed when we do visits for our church calling, so I get to try to make new desserts every now an then. This is the one I made today (yep, found on pinterest).

It was a delicious recipe.

Ingredients

3 cups finely ground graham crackers (12 ounces)
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup pecan pieces
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips or chunks
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 15-by-10-inch rimmed baking sheet.
In a large bowl, stir together cookie crumbs, sugar, and butter until combined. Evenly press onto bottom and up sides of prepared baking sheet. Bake, rotating halfway through, until firm, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack; cool, about 20 minutes.
Sprinkle cooled crust evenly with pecans and chocolate. Pour condensed milk over the top, spreading to cover completely. Sprinkle with coconut.
Bake until coconut is toasted, 10 to 15 minutes. Transfer to rack; cool completely.

Friday Night In

And I love it. And I love him.

Sometimes you got to have night ins and do nothing, but cuddle (because your basement apartment is freezing)and watch the office.

Work It! A little update...

So the hubs and I continue our little workout competish {he's winning}.

The first week I rocked it, however, I soon found that it was hard to work until 5, workout for an hour, run errands or do relief society visits, and still have time to be a good wife and make a good meal for my hubs {yep, that is important to me}.

Thus, I took a few days off, and ran very far behind my Mr. {no pun intended}. I couldn't let that happen though, so here is my workout for the busy working girl {found on pinterest of course} it takes about 30 minutes.

#1 Set realistic goals for yourself then stick to them.

#2 Run and get that little heart pumping. One hour runs were not working for my schedule, so I decided that if I could just do 2 miles a day I would be set. You have to decided how much you can do and do it.

#3 Follow the below workout plan. It seriously works out every muscle {almost}! I am one sore chica right now... I love that feeling.

Cheesy Garlic Bread

Here is a delicious cheesy breadsticks recipe that I made! Super simple!

Basic Pizza Dough Recipe from THIS gal (she is so great at explaining!)

Ingredients:
1 cup warm water
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 tablespoon honey {or sugar}
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons olive or canola oil
3 cups bread flour {give or take 1/2 cup…depending on the heat & humidity}

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, preferably that of a stand mixer, stir yeast and honey into warm water. Sit for 5-10 minutes or until bubbles form and mixture starts to foam. This tells you that the yeast is alive and kicking. Pour in salt, oil and half the flour and mix.

Once that flour is incorporated, start adding flour in bit by bit until you get the pizza dough to the consistency you want: slightly tacky, but when you touch it it doesn’t stick to your hands

Lightly grease the bowl & the dough so it doesn’t dry out, cover with plastic wrap and let it rise 1-2 hours. That’s it!

Cheesy Garlic Bread Sticks yield: 1- 12 inch pie

Ingredients:
1/2 recipe Fail-Proof Pizza Dough
2 tablespoons softened salted butter
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese {use the real stuff!}
1/4 pound grated mozzarella cheese{salt & pepper, if desired}

Directions:
Preheat oven to 500 degrees with pizza stone inside. Mix butter and garlic in a small bowl and set aside.Spread pizza dough out into a 12-inch circle on parchment paper. {This makes it easier to transfer to the pizza stone.}Spread the butter and garlic mixture over dough and top with Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.

My sister Emily had a cute idea last Summer to create a "Summer List". This list consist of fun activities she could do with her family so that they could enjoy every single minute of Summertime.

I decided to create a fall list. Time goes by so quickly, I have things that I want to do, and they lay around waiting for tomorrow (hopefully).

So here is my fall list... it isn't all fun thing, but things that I {we} will enjoy doing nonetheless.

Conference Weekend

I attended another bridal shower for Jessica (I got to support my cute sister-in-law, I'm the only sister she has so far). :)

Helped Tyler paint a house.

Ate at the Ogden Pizzeria with Tyler's parents (delish). Then we slept at their house that night.

Sunday

Went to the Sunday morning session of general conference. We were so grateful that we were able to get tickets, it is so special to actually be there. We loved it!

Ah... I love this.

After conference we enjoyed a delicious meal with my cute family (Mom, you are such a great cook!)

Then we played a little Yahtzee with my younger brothers and parents. Yep, my Dad totally beat us... by a lot. It was so good to be with them!

It was a great weekend (do I say that every week?). Ready for another week!

Makeup Brush Organization

Weekend Highlights

This weekend was an eventful one.

Tyler's cute little sister, Jessica has less than a month until she gets married. We had her very first bridal shower last Saturday. It brought back so many fun memories. :)

It is fun to see her so happy. It is truly a wonderful time of life, we are so excited for her to become Mrs. Wilkey!

I sure love Tyler's family. I am lucky to have them in my life now.

After the bridal shower I drove to my parent's home to meet my cute Mom and sisters for Women's Conference. It is a tradition we have had for years.

Women's conference was amazing. I am so grateful for that spiritual pick me up. We are so blessed.

Also this weekend Tyler's parents got us all together to go up Logan canyon to have tinfoil dinners.

We loved seeing so much of our families this past weekend.

Goodness, I love this guy.

The canyon was gorgeous! I love fall so much!

I kept saying, "look at the gorgeous colors!" poor Tyler is color blind... so he just has to take my word for it.

We of course ended with some card games.

We had a great weekend! We are so grateful for family and for each other!

Wedding Gift Idea

My best friend Melissa came over for a visit the other day. Goodness, I love M'liss. We have been good friends ever since our drill team days in high school. She is a gem and a half and I am lucky to have her in my life.

M'liss' has been in Virgina the past few years while her husband attended law school (isn't that so cool?). His graduation was the day after our wedding day, so cute M'liss couldn't come. She was there is spirit though, and an honorary matron of honor (yes, I had TWO maids of honor).

Yesterday when she came over she gave me a wedding gift. She made the above jar that is now placed on our cute mantel. It is full of different date night ideas.

Each week when Tyler and I have our date nights we pull out one of those slips of paper and do that for our night out on the town. Isn't that so cute? I thought it was a great idea... and I am totally using it.

I can't wait to see what dates we'll go on! I'll be sure to share them with you!

Speaking of date nights, Tyler and I had one tonight. We went to the movie Contagion. It wasn't the thriller I thought that it was going to be. Instead, it was clever and one that really made you think. Tyler and I liked it a ton.

I actually can't stop thinking about it.... a few things I learned from the movie:

#1 Wash your hands whenever possible and carry sanitizer everywhere you go!

#2 Get your food storage

#3 Don't touch your face!

Go see the movie and you'll know what I'm talking about.

A New Favorite

I bought this card at the beginning of the year that gets you "buy one get one free" to a ton of places in this cute little city of ours.

We use it a lot on our date nights. It includes movies, restaurants, mini golf... you name it. It has been so worth it (and perfect for a newlywed budget). :)

It has been fun trying places that we probably would not otherwise go to.

We found this delicious Indian restaurant that has become one of our favorites.

We were craving this today.

Delish...

Today Tyler and I started a workout competition. We are going to see who can workout the most within a months time. Winner gets a prize.

It feels good to be working out. I go in spurts of being really good... to not so good. This will keep me in line! :)

Our Weekend

Saturday

-Slept in (beautiful).

-Made french toast

-We cleaned, cleaned, cleaned.

-Tyler watched a whole lotta football (He isn't out of control though. I like that my husband likes football. Probably because I was raised in a home where there was always a BYU football game playing).

-Grocery Store

-Then we ended the evening with a movie date to the cheap theater to see Super Eight.

Sunday

-Stake conference with Elder Perry... AMAZING! His talk was so wonderful and inspirational.

-Tyler made us a delicious roast for dinner (goodness, his mama raised him right).

-We ended the evening with a fall treat (view below) and games with our good friends the Spackmans (Tyanna was my matron of honor and I haven't seen her since our wedding!) I love those guys!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cake

We made this Fall treat today and LOVED it. I got the idea from a recipe on Pinterest and modified it a bit. If you are a pumpkin fan, you have to try this! Delish!

1 cup pumpkin

2 whole eggs

4 egg whites

2 tbsp vegetable or canola oil

2 cup flour

2 tsp baking powder

2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground allspice

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350˚F. Grease a 9 X 13 pan.

In a large bowl, combine pumpkin puree, eggs and oil until smooth. Set aside.

In a separate medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, spices, salt and brown sugar. Add to the wet ingredients and mix until thoroughly incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Pour into prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes or until passes toothpick test. Cool completely before cutting.

-Yesterday marked 4 months of marriage. I love married life.

-My cute Momochka called me yesterday. Abraham Lincoln got it right when he said, "All I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother" (and I would add Father). I sure love those parents of mine.

-I am loving Pinterest! So many fun ideas!

-A Shabby Apple dress came for me in the mail today from my dear Tyler. He is good to me.

-I am aching for Fall.... September 23rd is the first day (can't wait to wear boots)!

-Tyler likes sports as much as I like clothes... that's a lot of like.

-We love our ward. Tyler is the ward mission leader and I am in the Relief Society presidency so we get to work together. I love being with him so much.

-I am officially sick of chicken recipes. I need to use different meats in my cooking.

-I love how excited Tyler is about his motorcycle. I never knew seeing someone so happy could make me so happy. I love him.

-Why does it bother me when people write "LOL"? I think it is weird.

-I miss Ukraine around this time of year.

-Today I went with Tyler to visit people in our ward, I felt like a missionary again. With the hottest companion ever. :)

-I asked Tyler if we could go to Paris one day... he said yes. You are all my witnesses. :) I really

want to visit Europe.

-I miss teaching dance lessons... I wish I would have done that again this year. Next year...

- I need to get my hair done. My blondie roots are peaking through. It is time to go RED. :)

-I love Tyler and we are really happy. Marriage is a such a blessing.

Creamy Potato Soup

This is the second time I have made this and we LOVE it!

6 cups potatoes, peeled and diced

5 cups water

2 cups chopped onions

4 chicken bouillon

6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

1(12 ounce) can evaporated milk

2 cups grated cheddar cheese

Directions: Combine the potatoes, water, onions, and bouillon in a greased 5- to 7- quart slower cooker (I love slow cookers). Cover and cook on high heat for 3-4 hours on until the potatoes are tender. Stir in the bacon, milk, and cheese. Cover and cook 20 minutes more, or until cheese is melted.

Our Weekend

Saturday... We woke up early and went treasure hunting. We found some cute decor items for our apartment.

We went home and made German pancakes (delish).

We got together with our neighbors (other young marrieds) and had a BBQ and concert. We had mics and everything. It was so much fun! Tyler and I sang our songs, I love singing with him while he plays the guitar. What a hottie.

Sunday... we had church meetings

We drove to Tyler's grandparents home so that I could help plan his little sister's bridal shower.

We ended the weekend by stopping at Tyler's parent's home and playing card games.

Now we are home, tired, and not ready for another week of school/work.... boo.

Tyler's New Ride

When Tyler's internship was over he was excited to get rid of all of his painting equipment

(the internship was running his own painting business for the summer).

He posted his stuff online and said that he was asking for $$$ or he would trade for some type of motorcycle or scooter. It was kind of a shot it the dark... so I thought.

Yep, I didn't think he would actually get anything, however, I came from work one day and he told me that someone wanted to trade.

And this is what he got...

I'm still not sure what I think.

And I made him swear that he would wear a helmet every single stinkin' ride.

One thing I sure am thinkin'.... that sure adds to his hottie hotness.

Here is another project that is on my to do list.

Get a cute frame, paint it a cute color, then paint the peering board with chalkboard paint. Vintage chalkboards are a great decoration for the kitchen!

Labor Day Weekend

It was so good to be with my family this past weekend. My parents rented cute little yurts for each couple next to Jordanelle Lake. This was my first time being able to go, the first time they went I was on my mission and the second time I was living in Nauvoo for the summer, so I am so glad that Tyler and I could go!

We had a lot of fun playing card games with my fun siblings, eating yummy food, and having a blast with our darling nieces and nephews.

My sisters planned fun activities for the grand kids, one of which was a water fight. Tyler is very loved by all of them and so he had no choice but to be in the water fight! Neither did I ... thank you, Tyler (what a punk, he got me good... but I started it :))!

Here was our yurt... that is my kind of camping, being in the outdoors yet having a nice bathroom and comfy bed. :)

He is one loved uncle.
We ended our trip with yummy shakes from Dairy Keen (delish). I sure love these brothers of mine.
Tyler and I decided to stay longer and spend the rest of our day fishing.

It was an adventure... we got lost in some tall grass and attacked by mosquito's.

All in all it was a great weekend! Thank you, Mom and Dad! We had so much fun!

We stayed at my parent's home on Saturday evening and the next day we all went to my new little nephew's blessing.

That evening we slept at Tyler's parent's home and spent all day today with them. Tyler's Dad served his mission in Washington, Vietnamese speaking and there he learned how to make delicious egg rolls. So we had an egg roll making party with Tyler's family and ended our visit with some "Scum" (such a fun game).

We are now back in our little apartment. We had a blast being with our families, but we are happy to be home again and back to our newlywed life.

That was how we spent our long weekend. I hope you all had a good one, too!

Palmer Reunion

We had so much fun with my cute family. We sure are growing! 17 nieces and nephews and 16 adults! We also found out that my brother and his wife (David and Stacey) have one on the way!

It was a great weekend! I'll blog more about it later! We are still enjoying our labor day holiday weekend with Tyler's family now. I love holidays and I love family!

That's Amore!

Sometimes I am an overemotional, over analytical, typical girl (no offense ladies). It is true, it is a flaw of mine.

And all the time Tyler is patient with me, gives me hugs that heal my heart, and always lets me know everything is going to be ok. He even tries to make me feel better with jokes, tickling (that never seems to work), or taking me out for late night breakfast (like last night, thanks LOVE!).

When I was a young gal this other gal told me that if I held out I would find exactly what I wanted (meaning, for a husband). I took that pretty literally… I had a goal of going out with100 different guys (don’t judge, I was young… and I wouldn’t suggest that, you meet a lot of weirdys!), and I did indeed find exactly what I want… but most of all, what I NEED.

I have never felt so loved (well… my parents were good at that, but that’s different).

I once heard this quote that said, “"Someday, someone is going to walk into your life and make you realize why it never worked out with anyone else" and I would add… make you grateful that it didn’t work out with anyone else. I am so grateful that Tyler and I found each other.

The other day we were cleaning out Tyler's truck and this cute little old couple was slowly walking down the street with their walking sticks. I turned to Tyler and said, “That is going to be us one day” he said, “yeah… but we’ll be holding hands”. Call us the sappiest saps you ever did meet, but I love it.

I am overwhelmed with love and so grateful to Heavenly Father for this love!

Well we are off for another outdoor weekend getaway with my family!

I am so excited! I sure love that family of mine! I can't wait to see all 17 of our nieces and nephews! Ever since I married Tyler we have been the favorites! :) Thank you, Tyler (all of my nieces have a crush on him too, I have to remind them that he is my husband). ;)

The Cabin and Friends

We took off last weekend for one last summer cabin trip.

We invited our friends Trevor and Emily as well as Richard and Amber to enjoy the weekend with us. We had so much fun with them.

It was relaxing, yet very adventurous....

There was a lot of four wheeling.

A lot of goofiness (we are good at that).

And a lot of fun with friends.

It was so beautiful up there!

Rain or shine... we were going to go fishing (Tyler out fished me this time... keep in mind his fish were about 3 inches long.)

We are so grateful for one more cabin getaway before the beginning of school (for Tyler... not me... such a weird feeling to be done!)

Summer is gone... and the school year has started!

Tyler did a great job on his summer internship. It was quite the challenge, but he did well and learned so much. I am so proud of him!

He is now busy with school. He has two 18 credit semesters for fall and spring, then he is done! We are so excited!

Yay for the weekend! This has been a long week... and I have barely seen Tyler. :( We are going to change that by spending the weekend at his family's cabin with our friends. We are so excited! Hopefully I will out fish Tyler again. ;)

Fashion "not sure": Sock with Sandals. We were taught pretty early that this is a major "no no" (except for one of my college math professors. Tevas and sandals all day long!). However, cute frilly socks with stylish sandals are hitting fashion magazines. What do you think? Love or Loathe?

Goodness, I love August.

Simply because it reminds me of when I first fell in love with Tyler.

Gosh, I'm a sap but I guess you already knew that. That is the beauty of having your own blog... you can be. Also, remember how I am a newlywed...

So on that note I must add that one year ago today was the first time Tyler kissed me, on the top of the top of Ben Lomond Peak (read about it HERE). That was a good day.

Isn't this adorable?

I have been visiting thrift stores regularly, searching for frames with this type of embellishment.

Moms everywhere used to decorate their homes with frames that had this design but painted in gold. Those frames are perfect to paint in a robin's egg blue or simple white. They are not hard to find either.

There are so many fun ideas for cute frames like this. I definitely want to try this one out.

Chasing my Nightmares Away

Last night I had a horrible nightmare. I can't remember what it was about, but it seemed horrible at the time.

I woke up to Tyler, with his arms around me. He was telling me that he was there and that everything was ok, and that he would beat up the bad guys for me.

I love being married, and I am in love with Tyler and I just keep falling more and more in love with him everyday!

Tyler and I want a dog.

Specifically this dog (we love golden retrievers). We think we would be good dog parents.

When people ask us when we are going to have kids we tell them that we want to test parenting out on a dog first (kidding of course... well, sort of. People should know better than to ask newlyweds that questions).

We have already started picking out dog names... Bentley, Oakley... it has to have some kind of "ley" ending for us.

Junk to Treasure

I finally finished my little "projects" (click HERE to see what I am referring to) . I love decorating! I am very amateur, mind you, but I am learning great things and having a ton of fun while doing it!

This first one was a stretch. My husband hardly looks at this blog (he is a busy guy), however, one day he tried to catch up on some of my posts and he saw this owl. He said, "you better show them the finished product before they judge you". Funny husband.
